Our Aims & Objectives

  • The sanctuary provides care and rehabilitation for wild sick and injured owls within Cornwall, and where possible ensures their safe release back to the wild when they are fully recovered, and if permanently disabled a comfortable home shall be provided in a suitable environment.

  • To promote an awareness of the conservation needs of owl species, and their natural habitat within the environment.
We achieve this through education and involvement with schools, youth organisations and many adult groups and interested individuals.

  • To provide information regarding the building & siting of owl nest boxes in suitable areas to enhance the wild population of owls, especially the declining barn owl.
We also give advice to farmers & landowners regarding building requirements, barn conversions & land management.

  • To gain the support & involvement of the local community in practical conservation issues, and to offer a centre of interest and enjoyment for all age groups which provides hands-on experience that is affordable for everyone to visit.

  • Captive breeding is encouraged and achieved at the centre to conserve for the future many owl species which may be depleting in population, and may be considered necessary for reintroduction into the wild.

  • The centre allows visitors to see & touch the owls at close proximity under staff supervision, and provides a talk & guided tour of the centre to all visitors.

  • Disabled groups and special needs persons are also welcomed, and are given priority care to ensure they are not excluded from the hands-on education, in a supportive & caring environment.

  • The centre has been involved in several conservation projects world wide, and contributed both financial and practical assistance to those organisations which lack resources for conservation breeding programmes.
